Emergency Numbers

For the past few days, Manila and nearby areas have been experiencing inclement weather, with almost non-stop rains. Due to this, a lot of areas, mostly the low-lying ones, are flooded. Some areas are hit hard, with flood water levels reaching chest-deep. Some major roads in the metro are not passable due to high flood levels. Classes, as well as work both in government and private offices, were suspended yesterday.

Our town in Bulacan was affected by the rain and flood. Yesterday, flood water entered our house. It’s the second time this has ever happened; the first time was in 2009 during Ondoy. Thank God, the water level was not high, just about 3 inches. Water levels are higher in other areas. Rescue and relief operations are currently ongoing. Let us keep praying for everyone’s safety.

Amidst all this, a lot of communication about weather info, status of areas, rescue and relief efforts - among other things - are on the news and Internet, particularly the popular social medium, Twitter. I’m reposting here emergency numbers I came across online, for everyone’s reference:

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish the men in my life a Happy Father's Day -- my Tatay, four brothers and of course, my main man... My loving husband, Miggy's "Dadad"! :)

I am deeply awed by the love you have for Miggy. He is so blessed to have you as his Dadad, and I to have you as my forever partner in life. Love you!

AirAsia recently introduced two new routes, Hong Kong and Macau. Introductory fares are just too tempting! A couple of months back, I was able to book with AirAsia for our family trip to Palawan this coming December. Seven round trip tickets costed only P4,700. Great deal, no? I just love AirAsia. Now, going back to the HK-Macau promo... It's just so good a deal to pass up on! I'm just trying to match my schedule with ze husby's and hopefully I can book our tickets before June 19 (end of promo).

Hooray for AirAsia! And hope to see you, Hong Kong and Macau! :)

Happy 1st Birthday, Miggy!

Our baby, Miggy-o, turns one today! His Justice League party at Shakey's was a blast. A lot of kids arrived, more than I expected, thank God. All in all, it was a super fun party. I will make a separate post on it soon. For now, I'm sharing Miggy's birthday cake, picked by his Daddy-o (a Superman fan):

Happy birthday, baby Miggy-o! We love you so much! :)

Feb Happenings :)

It's the month of looove! Kay bilis ng araw, imagine, we're almost half way through February. I'm not really excited about Valentine's Day, it has not been a tradition for me and Paul to celebrate it. Parang normal na araw lang. :)

What I'm really looking forward to this month are the following:

Miggy's 1st birthday. My baby's turning a year old on Sunday... Yehey! We'll have a Justice League party at Shakey's to celebrate his big day.

Pogi :)

Boracay. After  five months, I will be back to this beautiful island. But it's not pure leisure, it's actually work-related. Hehe We will have our department team building there (naks, may budget) for 3D/2N. And we will stay at... Discovery Shores! Chochality lang. :)

Guys and Gals outing. One of my high school barkada, Pet (a nurse based in Sydney), is currently in the country. We will have a weekend get together, all of us Guys and Gals (except for Alma and Carlo, who are in Japan). Haven't seen Pet for the past two years. I'm so excited! We will most probably go to the beach, either in Batangas or Subic. :)

With the Guys and Gals at EK last December (minus Pet and Mersan )

Second month of the year pa lang, ang dami na agad events. Lezdodiz! :)

One Week to Go!

Miggy's first birthday is coming up... Exactly one week to go. I'm so excited!

He will have a Justice League party at Shakey's SM Marilao. He will be Superman, nonetheless. :) Just want to share the invitation (done by my graphic artist friend, Toink).

SuperMiggy!

I can't wait for next Sunday!

Sale Alert: Toys "R" Us Clearance Blowout

Yay, another Toys "R" Us grand sale coming this February! I'm gonna check out the one in Robinson's Place Manila since it's the nearest to my office (among the participating branches). Hoping I would score great buys for Miggy, just like I did in previous Toys "R" Us clearance blowouts. :)

A Look Back at 2011

How time flies! One month of the new year is already ending. And I still haven’t made my “the year that was” post. Well, as they say, better late than never. Hehe So, here it goes...

2011 was a great year for me. Not just great, actually… I consider it the best year of my life, so far. It was a year of firsts, milestones, new beginnings. Of all the blessings and good memories of 2011, here are the major ones:

Clockwise from top left: Miggy (born on 02.12.11), Guido (our first car),
SG (my first travel abroad), ULP (my new employer)

I became a mother. This milestone, hands down, is the highlight of all. On February 12, I gave birth to our first baby, our adorable son, Joaquin Miguel. We fondly call him Miggy. Nothing compares to childbirth, I gotta say. Eleven hours of labor, the excruciating pain, the inexplicable joy upon seeing and holding my baby for the first time -- just wonderful. I thank God for letting me experience childbirth. And I so love being a mommy! It’s the best thing that ever happened to me.

We bought a car. Paul and I bought our very own ride some time in April - a 1997 Toyota Corolla 1.6GLi. Albeit second hand, we are so proud of this first major investment. Thanks to my brother, Ronald, for giving us a friendly (or rather, brotherly) price and convenient payment terms. Hehe :)

I travelled abroad for the first time. In August, I went on a week-long trip to Singapore to visit Paul, who was there for a project. I enjoyed Singapore. It’s my first taste of the so called ‘first world’. Haha I particularly liked their public transportation system, so efficient. Paul and I had fun at Universal Studios, Sentosa, among others. We are planning to go back there with Miggy, when he’s big enough to appreciate travelling and theme parks.

I got a new job. I really did not expect this that I would get a new job towards the end of the year nor I would get accepted in that company, given the competition. But God is indeed the best and He gave me the opportunity. So, after four years with ATS, I bid goodbye and joined ULP at the end of November.

Other highlights of my 2011:
I got a sideline. Last year, my bestfriend Ese’s dream of becoming a wedding coordinator came true, and I became a part of it. Felicity Events Bulacan, which offers events coordination services, was started. I served as one of the wedding coordinators. We had our first client on November 26.

Twitter and Instagram! I got hooked on Twitter last year. I had an account since 2009 but it was last year when I really got so into it. I would access Twitter more often than Facebook. As for Instagram, I’m addicted! It’s a photo service for iPhone. I now have 500+ photos uploaded.

My Instagram profile, I took a screenshot after uploading my 500th photo. :)

• iPhone 4 and Kindle Fire. In May, I got an iPhone 4 with my plan renewal. Best phone I’ve ever had! My Kindle Fire (which I call Kief) was Paul’s surprise birthday/Christmas gift to me last December. It’s my first tablet and I super love it. :)

Kief! :)

Boracay, Baguio and Batangas. I got to travel to these beautiful places -- went to Boracay with Paul in September (it was our 2nd time in the island); went to Baguio (work-related) last December and stayed at The Manor (read: chochal! And I super love the food at Le Chef); spent Christmas with the Rosels and Barals in Nasugbu and Balayan.

The Manor

So, to say that 'last year was wonderful' would be an understatement.  True, there were several bumps along the way, but all in all, the good outweighed the bad. And those so-called bumps just made the adventure more exciting. Thank you, Lord, for a great 2011! Looking forward to more blessings, more milestones and more fun times this year. :)

This Side Down

New year, new blog name! :)

I changed my blog name to This Side Down. And I’m planning to keep it for good. Hehe
